Melnyk transplant

Ottawa Senators team owner Eugene Melnyk has undergone a successful liver transplant, the team announced Tuesday night.

Melnyk went into surgery at Toronto General Hospital at noon Tuesday and the transplant was completed at 8:05 p.m., the team said in a release.

Melnyk and the anonymous donor are both resting and doing well.

The University Health Network’s Multi-Organ Transplant Program will be giving an update Melnyk and the donor’s recovery later this week. Star staff/Star Wire Services
