Microhotels a hit with Millennials,
Some travellers call them hostels. Others call them “poshtels.” Whatever the label, they’re hip and chic and bear little resemblance to the spartan shared-accommodation digs of travelling days gone by. . Leading the pack is Generator and its hostel-hotel hybrid properties in cities like Berlin, Barcelona, Venice, London and Paris. Shared rooms start at € 25 per night (about $34 Canadian). Closer to home, three “micro-hotels” in New York City have low rates for narrow quarters. The smallest rooms at the Jane in the West Village are just four-and-a-half square metres. Summer savings in Nassau Breezes Bahamas’ “Summer Savings Event” offers discounts worth 40 to 50 per cent off getaways all the way through to Dec. 31. Bookings must be made by June 30. Deal rates start at $129 (U.S.) per person, per night, double occupancy. Travel completed by May 31 qualifies for the 50 per cent discount. Travel from June 1 to Aug. 7 qualifies for a 45 per cent discount. And travel Aug. 8 to Dec. 31 gets a 40 per cent discount. The minimum stay is three nights. See breezes.com.
