Police hunt couple after body found
Suspects in Vaughan murder have ties to New Brunswick and Quebec, city police say
A couple wanted in connection with the death of a Vaughan man had up to two days to flee before police found the body of the man they are accused of killing, according to Toronto homicide detectives.
“We don’t have any information as to their location,” Det. Shawn Mahoney told reporters Saturday. “We are looking everywhere.”
Clyde Marshall, 36, and Sabrina Chouart, 27, are wanted on first-degree murder charges.
Sina Parsi, 32, had last been seen Tuesday night leaving a soccer game in the Teston Rd. and Hwy. 400 area.
His body was found Friday night in an apartment in the Jane St. and St. Clair Ave. area.
Police would not say how the man died or what his relationship, if any, was to the suspects. He was not known to police.
The pair have ties to the Gatineau and New Brunswick areas, police said. They are believed to be together and may be travelling with a large, brown bull mastiff.
Police declined to give details on a motive and would not say if a weapon was involved.
“The charge speaks for itself,” Mahoney said. “They’re wanted for firstdegree murder.”
Marshall had a history of contacts with the police over property-related offences and violence, Mahoney said.
Neighbours told the Star the couple had lived in the building for a year and hadn’t caused any problems.
They were often seen walking their dog and stopped to chat frequently.
Eva Cybulska last saw the couple two days ago.
“They were nice people. They were helpful. They were always talking,” she said.
Mahoney would not confirm previous reports that Parsi’s bank account had been accessed.
York Regional police had been searching for the man since Wednesday. His pickup was found early Thursday in a parking lot just a block away from the apartment where his body was located.
Police told Parsi’s family about the grim discovery on Saturday morning.
“As anyone can expect, they’re taking it very hard,” Mahoney said. With files from Holly Honderich, Jackie Hong and Riannon Westall
