Go for Gold Redeeming Loyalty Rewards at Toronto’s Pan Am Games

- By Bronwen Keyes-Bevan

Redeeming loyalty reward points during this year’s Pan Am Games could provide you with some major cash savings.

The Pan Am Games are the largest ever multi-sport games to be held on Canadian soil and will be held in state-of-the-art venues across Toronto and the Greater Golden Horseshoe. They kick off on July 10th and will continue throughout the month. For Canadians, the games represent a great opportunity to witness some top-level sports events and experience the unique atmosphere that a major international event brings to a city. Travelling to and from events, paying for accommodation and feeding yourself and your family can add up, which is why now is the perfect time to redeem some of your hard-earned loyalty points and save yourself some cash.

Make rewards points work for you

“With over 250,000 people travelling here for the games, many will be utilizing points in order to get here and enjoy the many great amenities around the games,” says Kathy Henderson, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Revenue at Toronto 2015 Pan and Parapan American Games. “Points holders will have an inside advantage because they can really stretch their dollars further.”

Tickets to the games themselves remain reasonable and there will be many free entertainment and cultural events around the city. But for many families on a tight budget, the travel, food and accommodation costs surrounding the games can seem cost-prohibitive. Redeeming loyalty points earned at establishments such as hotels, restaurants and cafés can make people’s budgets go further allowing them to take full advantage of their Pan Am experience.

Continue earning points at the games

The Pan Am and Parapan Am Games have been working in tandem with many official sponsors to ensure as many Canadians as possible can afford to attend the games.

Esso Extra members can save two cents per litre during the Pan Am Games and can earn double the points during the Parapan Am Games. CIBC Aventura members will receive two times the points when they use their Aventura card at any Pan Am or Parapan Am Games outlets. Individuals can purchase unique memorabilia at the games’ superstores (located in The Eaton Centre and at Nathan Phillips Square) or at any of the merchandise kiosks across the games and earn points at the same time.

Aeroplan offered many lucky people tickets to the event and members can continue to redeem their miles for flights to and from the games.

“When you come to the games, there is a lot to take in. Many people come for the games and stay on to enjoy all of the other wonderful things that Toronto and its surroundings have to offer,” says Henderson. “Points are a great reason to extend your vacation, they really do stretch your travel dollars.”

A once in a lifetime event

CIBC Pan Am Park will be the hub of activity during the games. Visitors can easily spend an entire day enjoying the sports events and soaking up the great food, culture and entertainment. Don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime event, redeem your loyalty points and put them to good use.

“There will be a real festival feeling around the games,” says Henderson. “It will be a tremendous party and we’re all really excited for it”.
