Swimmer touches three provinces

Marilyn Korzekwa has successfully completed a long-distance swim across the Northumberland Strait to Prince Edward Island and back again Sunday — touching all three Maritime provinces.

Korzekwa, 58, of Hamilton, embarked on the 34-kilometre swim at around 7:45 p.m. Saturday.

She departed from the Amherst Shore of Nova Scotia for Prince Edward Island, then doubled back alongside the Confederation Bridge.

According to her blog, she finished in New Brunswick around noon after swimming non-stop for almost 17 hours. She has also swum Lake Ontario and the English Channel.
