SIU investigating Grand Bend death

The province’s police watchdog is reviewing how the OPP handled the death of a man in the Lake Huron town of Grand Bend this weekend.

The Special Investigations Unit said officers drove a 52-year-old man home from a bar and restaurant early Sunday morning. The man went into medical distress and was pronounced dead. An autopsy will be carried out Monday.

The civilian watchdog is automatically called in whenever police are involved in a situation that results in death or serious injury.
