PHOTO OF THE GAMES
My favourite Pan Am Games image — from the thousands shot by Star photographers — has to be Steve Russell’s photo of Pete Orr celebrating Team Canada’s win over Team USA in extra innings in the gold medal baseball game. It was such a close game and Steve’s photo captures Orr’s raw emotion perfectly after sliding in for the winning run. It contrasts Canada’s thrill of the win with the U.S. catcher’s sense of dejection. It makes you feel so proud as a Canadian.
