Here are 5 new things to watch for at CNE 2015

- BRUCE DEMARA ENTERTAINMENT REPORTER

The CNE has always prided itself on offering something new every year for visitors. This year’s edition, the 137th, is no different.

Here are five things to watch for: The West Coast Lumberjack Show The 45-minute show features a great Canadian tradition, well-muscled lumberjacks competing “chock-ablock” in events including axe throwing, chainsaw carving, underhand chop, pole climbing and birling (log balancing on water). The Craft Beer Fest Located in the heart of the Food Truck Frenzy, it will showcase 11 regional master craft brewers with a mix of old and new blends for discriminating brew fans. Chicken Waffle on a Stick The new kid on the culinary block features crispy fried chicken on a stick with a fluffy waffle coating dipped in maple syrup then sprinkled in icing sugar. How Canadian, eh? A side of Frank’s Red Hot for dipping is optional but highly recommended. XPogo Stunt Team The extreme pogo performance team performs flips and tricks on nextgeneration devices that can reportedly bounce up to three metres (and possibly higher) in the air. The CNE Bandshell While the venue isn’t new, there are new acts to be seen.

The lineup covers the musical spectrum from revered classics such as America, Chubby Checker, Rick Springfield and Foghat to first-time appearances by Great Big Sea lead singer Alan Doyle, Cody Simpson, Brett Kissel, MKTO and Dallas Smith.

Returning acts include the Abrams Brothers, Boogie Wonder Band, Jay Douglas, Tokyo Police Club and many more.
