Re-establish lifelong pensions for injured veterans, and increase the value of the disability award;

Invest $25 million to expand access to the Permanent Impairment Allowance;

Invest $40 million to increase the Earnings Loss Benefit to 90 per cent of pre-release salary;

Invest $80 million per year to create a new Veterans Education Benefit that provides full support for the cost of up to four years of college, university or technical education. Conservati­ves The Conservati­ves have taken steps during their time in office to address veterans issues:

Creating a network of 25 frontline mental health clinics across Canada and 31 integrated personnel support centres.

Boosted funding for education and training worth almost $100,000 for each injured veteran.

This election, they have promised to extend the earnings loss benefit for veterans with servicerel­ated injuries or disabiliti­es. A re-elected government would allow veterans to earn up to $10,000 in employment income without affecting their benefit payments. NDP

The New Democrats have yet to make announceme­nts on veterans affairs issues in this campaign. However, while Parliament was in session, the NDP called on the Conservati­ves to make urgent improvemen­ts to mental health services; reverse the closures of regional Veterans Affairs offices and speed the delayed inquiries into the suicides of soldiers.
