Exciting things are happening in Yonge-Dundas Square

-

Last year’s festival saw the introduction of a ‘Benefit Stage’ in Yonge-Dundas Square, a new charitable epi-centre of the festival where all the money raised was generously donated to Epilepsy Toronto. This year, the benefit stage is back, with non-stop benefit shows by the festivals circle and music acts but also with some exciting, one-time only performances, you won’t want to miss.

This year also sees the return of the ever-popular group shows: the Friday Night Fireshow and the Sunday Grande Finale. Each of these will feature a collection of performers, collaborating and showing off the best of their talents!

The Friday Night Fire Show (raindate: Saturday, Aug 29) is sure to be the ‘hottest’ show in town! This performance combines the best of all of the festival’s fire acts. Hosted by Toronto’s own FireGuy, it will feature Dream State Circus, Billions Cobra, Pyromancer, Bex in Motion and Zap Circus!

The Grande Finale is always a lively and spontaneous collaboration. This year it will be hosted by Beatbox phenomenon Scott Jackson and feature performances by the Funny Waiter, Oparty, Mighty Mike, Sparx and the announcement of this year’s METRO People’s Choice Award Winner.

“Full House The Musical” Cast in the house! Currently playing at the Bathurst Street Theatre in Toronto, the cast from Full House The Musical including Perez Hilton will take to the stage in Yonge-Dundas Square for a very special performance at 1pm on Saturday, August 29.

And at 5pm Saturday, Toronto’s own Samba Squad will be heating up the benefit stage with their energetic and joy-instilling beats.

On Sunday, at 12:30, the first ever ‘Purple Walk for Epilepsy” will conclude in Yonge-Dundas Square with a benefit concert by over 50 members of Toronto’s premiere rock choir, newchoir!
