No credible threat seen in comments
The University of Toronto is increasing campus security after anonymous online threats, though local police concluded after a six-day investigation into comments made regarding students and faculty at the university found no credible threat.
U of T president Meric Gertler said in a statement released Friday that “we have shared information with our community about how faculty, students and staff can ensure their own safety and where to call if they see suspicious activity.”
Comments were posted Sept. 5 on a Toronto blog, insisting people shoot students and professors in women’s studies and sociology classes. Police are still trying to determine who made the comments; their news release Friday stated, “To date, no credible threat has been identified.”
