There has been a move away from fussy crystal chandeliers to articulated, sculptural light fixtures in warm metals. The designs of Lindsey Adelman for the trendy Brooklyn lighting firm Roll & Hill are becoming iconic due to their flexibility and sleek look. Expect to pay more than $10,000 for this stunner, below left, but you can get a similar look with budget-friendly options, including one from Adelman herself. Wendy Jacob reports.

Adelman’s modular structures can be configured to include six to 20 bulbs. They have articulated joints so they can be rotated and arranged in different ways.
