GIVING BACK

Not only does John Beimers look after his employees with Easy Building Products’ monthly profitsharing program, but his company is involved with community building near and far. Last year, the Huron Manufacturing Association presented the family-run company with its Corporate Citizenship Award, given to a manufacturer in Huron County that has made “outstanding contributions” to both the community and the association. “It was a complete surprise to us,” says Beimers, who credits his employees for the honour.

Among other gestures, Easy Building Products donates materials to its local Lions Club, which are used at a children’s camp, as well as to an aboriginal organization in northern Ontario. The company also sends steel roofing panels through a charitable organization that is building in Africa.

“For me, it’s important,” says Beimers. “I feel blessed and I think it’s my obligation to give back. And the employees feel that way, too.”
