Sweet deal for Sen. Brazeau

-

Re Sen. Brazeau wins unconditional discharge on assault, cocaine charges, Oct. 28 Well, well, well! Both the defence and the Crown recommended a conditional discharge for Sen. Patrick Brazeau at his trial, even though he pleaded guilty to assault and cocaine charges. What a sweet deal. I wonder if that deal is available to everyone. And then Brazeau even gets to comment that because he slipped away from any punishment, it proves he isn’t a woman beater. This ranks right up there with Stephen Harper’s contention that his office did not vet refugees, but if they did do it, they did it for the right reasons.

Reading this, one almost feels that we are residing in Superman’s “Bizarro World” where right is wrong, up is down and black is white.

Somehow the elite always manage to slip away from any consequences, don’t they? And this time with the full co-operation of the courts. Whoever said “Justice is blind” is a damn fool. J. Richard Wright, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.
