Big mistake for Rogers to let Alex get away

-

Re Adios, Alex, Oct. 30 Maybe instead of “Adios Alex” your headline should read “Adios Shapiro.” Rogers, which has made a big mistake in letting Alex Anthopoulos get away from the Jays, should reconsider the contract of Mark Shapiro. The best is gone and the worst is yet to come. Bruce Moore, Wasaga Beach,Ont. The sudden departure of Alex Anthopoulos is nothing short of adult bullying behaviour and classic abuse of authority that happens when insecure adults are given power they are too immature to manage respectfully. What a shame and what a loss for the Blue Jays of someone who was instrumental in bringing so much success in such a short time this past season.

Yankee go home. You are not welcome here. Mark Spurr, Toronto Forty-seven major league executives selected Alex Anthopoulos as the best among them this year and Mark Shapiro and the geniuses at Rogers are secondguessing his success in putting the right pieces of a puzzle together that took a consistently mediocre team to within two wins of the World Series. He did this with the added result that the SkyDome (it’s only the Rogers Centre because they bought it for pennies on the dollar) was packed to the rafters in August and September, broadcast numbers soared and so did revenues. Luckily for Shapiro and the geniuses at Rogers, the core lineup is there next year and if they can deliver their chequebook to David Price before the Cubs sign him and find enough for Marco Estrada in the piggy bank, they might even contend next year. But make no mistake about it, this is AA’s team. Stephen Turk, Toronto Before the new Liberal government repeals Stephen Harper’s odious citizenship and barbaric cultural practices acts, they could be used to remove the senior management at Rogers Communications. There is no question that they are from another place, possibly another planet.

Their tone-deaf managerial incompetence and ability to terrorize an entire community has just been demonstrated. From a business perspective, they have managed to devalue the baseball franchise that delivered millions in profit to their bottom line.

It is clear that from community, social and business points of view they are truly barbaric terrorists and deserve removal — deportation to their home planet.

What is the phone number of the barbaric cultural practices tip line? W. Gladstone, Toronto
