Toronto’s Green Lane landfill will be at capacity in 2029 if the waste diversion rate stays at 53 per cent. A graphic accompanying a Nov. 4 article about waste management in Toronto said the landfill will be at capacity in 2026. In fact, this was the projected landfill life span at the 2013 waste diversion rate of 52.6 per cent. Outdated information was sourced from the city of Toronto website. As well, $106.09 is the current cost per tonne to send Toronto’s waste to a landfill.
