THE WOMAN BEHIND THE ‘NICE HAIR’

-

Justin Trudeau’s tresses took a lot of teasing during the election

campaign, when opponents tried to turn “Nice hair, though,” into an insult. But for Stefania Capovilla, it’s always been a compliment. As Trudeau’s stylist, Capovilla has been rooting for him for years.

She posted this pic to Instagram yesterday — right after giving him a new ’do.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is known for his “nice hair,” thanks to Stefania Capovilla, hairstylist to the political elite.

Capovilla posted a photo on Instagram yesterday of herself standing next to Trudeau with the caption: “When an old friend gets a new job . . . he gets a haircut!”

Trudeau’s mane is so famous that a Conservative attack ad tried to turn his lustrous waves into a source of weakness with the backhanded compliment “Nice hair, though.”

Capovilla has been taming Trudeau’s tresses for years, but he’s just one of many political clients. In a 2012 article in the National Post, Capovilla copped to cutting the hair of Senator Patrick Brazeau, former prime minister Stephen Harper, late finance minister Jim Flaherty and even Trudeau’s mom, Margaret Trudeau.

Her Instagram feed is filled with pictures of posh politicos in the chair, from Flaherty to John Baird (who made friends with her cat). There’s even a picture of Trudeau meeting her mother.

With clients on both sides of the aisle, Capovilla works hard to be non-partisan. When Trudeau confided in her that he was having a hard time finding a Conservative politician to go up against in a charity boxing match, it was Capovilla who suggested Brazeau, she told the Post in 2012. It was also Capovilla who famously cut Brazeau’s ponytail after he lost the match. Thestar.com
