Macaulay Culkin Character: Kevin McCallister Culkin drew comparisons to Shirley Temple the year Home Alone came out. But the pudgy-cheeked child star, who turned 35 this year, has faded from view. After Home Alone, he starred in The Pagemaster and Richie Rich, neither of which did well at the box office. In 2003, he made a comeback in Party Monster starring alongside Seth Green. The next year, he was charged with possession of marijuana and later pleaded guilty. More recently, Culkin has appeared on The Jim Gaffigan Show. But he’s perhaps best known for his pizza-themed Velvet Underground cover band, Pizza Underground, whose hits include “I’m Waiting for the Delivery Man” and “I’m Beginning to Eat the Slice.” Devin Ratray Character: Buzz McCallister Kevin’s bully of an older brother, Buzz, hasn’t reached the same heights since Home Alone but has had smaller roles on the silver screen. After the sequel in 1994, he appeared in Law & Order and Louie. He had a secondary role in Surrogates, the 2009 movie starring Bruce Willis, set in a futuristic world where humans interact remotely through robot surrogates. He also appeared in the Oscar-nominated Nebraska (2003) as one of Will Forte’s greedy relatives. Joe Pesci Character: Harry Lime For Pesci, 1990 was a blockbuster year. Besides portraying the badtempered, bumbling burglar Harry in Home Alone, he played a much more menacing criminal in Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas. Pesci may be the cast member who’s had the most success since then, but that’s not saying much. In 1995, he returned to familiar territory playing Mafia underboss Nicky Santoro in Casino. He reprised a supporting role in Lethal Weapon 4 (1998) before returning to the silver screen eight years later in The Good Shepherd. Daniel Stern Character: Marv Merchants Stern has dozens of screen credits to his name since he made his debut in 1979. But he will probably be forever known for burning his hand on a red-hot doorknob. He told the AV Club he’s been recognized as Marv as far away as Baghdad, Japan and Alaska. Since Home Alone, he’s lent his voice to characters in Hey Arnold! and Family Guy, and narrated the ABC series The Wonder Years. His most recent, major role is Dr. Glenn Babbit in the WGN miniseries Manhattan, about the race to build the A-bomb. John Heard Character: Peter McCallister Kevin’s affable dad went on to land a big part in the 1998 Brian De Palma thriller Snake Eyes with Nicolas Cage. He also appeared in the 2000 biopic Pollock and had recurring roles in Prison Break and The Sopranos.
