Paris attacks continue to make showbiz ripples

-

Several U.S. TV shows became the latest entertainment properties to react to Friday’s terror attacks in Paris, which killed 129 people and injured hundreds.

Concerts and movie events, including the rest of the Foo Fighters’ European tour and a U2 concert that was to be filmed for HBO, had already been cancelled on the weekend, along with a Sunday photo call for the Steven Spielberg movie Bridge of Spies and a promotional appearance by Natalie Portman for the movie Jane Got a Gun.

CBS announced it was swapping out Monday episodes of Supergirl and NCIS: Los Angeles, which involved themes of bombings and terrorism, respectively. And TNT postponed a Monday episode of Legends because it depicted a terrorist shooting into a crowd in Paris.

TNT said Monday it will instead air arerun of Legends that was originally shown a few weeks ago.

CBS planned to air new episodes of Supergirl and NCIS: LA. Supergirl was supposed to be centred on Kara trying to stop a series of bombings; instead, the network will air its Thanksgiving-themed episode originally scheduled for Monday.

NCIS: Los Angeles is also moving its Monday show up a week; the episode that was to air Monday night focused on a girl recruited by a terrorist organization.

There is no word on when the original episodes will air. This is standard practice when a TV show accidentally echoes a real-life tragedy: In August, USA’s Mr. Robot was postponed a week when its season finale featured a graphic on-camera shooting, right after Virginia TV reporter Allison Parker and videographer Adam Ward were killed during a news report.

Meanwhile, movie studio Lionsgate said in a statement it would no longer allow interviews at Monday’s Los Angeles premiere of Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 out of “respect for the recent events with Paris.” Part of the final movie in the franchise was filmed in Paris.
