There must be a German word for the feeling of sadness and loss you feel when you hear that a place famous for being a mostly unloved eyesore or blight is closing, to be replaced with something less crappy, but also less historic. The wave of that complicated emotion crested again this week with news about the Brunswick House — but it’s just the most recent bad-taste landmark to inspire sudden reverence.
