A local residents’ association posted news this week that the iconic Annex beer hall is on a month-to-month lease and Boston Pizza may be interested in the location. Once the bar was a great live blues venue, but for decades it’s been a notorious and intimidating frat-boy beer hall, a constant source of late-night bar fighters and noisemakers (with an unloved off-track betting shop upstairs). Still, the immediate online reaction was an outpouring of fond-ish memories of youthful blackout puking episodes, mixed with horror at the prospect of a big-box chain moving in.
