Porsche Boxster Spyder
Base price: $93,700 As tested: N/A The Boxster Spyder is a super-light, stripped down roadster that does zero to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. As if that’s not enough to put a sly grin on most drivers’ faces, the car is also drop-dead gorgeous with its streamlined humps aft of the passenger compartment and improved manual roof.
We like: Engine plus top down equal aural ecstasy, a sleek body design with nods to retro design and the easy-touse soft top.
Engine: 3.8-L Flat 6 Power/torque: 375 hp, 309 lb.-ft NRC ratings L/100 km: 14.2 City, 7.5 Hwy (premium)
What’s best: Designed for twisting, hilly roads, the Spyder excels at tight corners with tremendous exit speeds.
What’s worst: The seats are not very adjustable.
Value for money: A phenomenal car that’s handicapped by the need for Canadian owners to store it in the winter (or drive it south).
