Policy makers must suffer consequences

-

Re Wish lists remain fantasy when tax talk is forbidden, Jan. 15

Christopher Hume wrote about the late and over budget Toronto-York Spadina subway extension. Toronto does have a problem.

We’ve become so used to seeing public works projects go poorly that we no longer expect our policy makers to take meaningful responsibility for the overrun projects they so proudly champion during their electoral campaigns.

As a York University student, commuting is a part of everyday life. When I miss a deadline I have to deal with the consequences. It’s a shame policy-makers in our city don’t have to do the same.
