Like a New Yorker cartoon

Re Reality didn’t always match the menu, Jan. 15

As reporter Michele Henry relates, servers and even managers can be stumped by the all-important brunch question, “Is the OJ freshly squeezed?”

At a Toronto eatery I was served OJ that didn’t taste “freshly squeezed,” as I had ordered. When the server said that that indeed it was fresh, I asked for the manager. In turn, he also insisted that the OJ was freshly squeezed: “It says so right on the box!”

It was worth the premium price to find myself in a New Yorker cartoon suddenly sprung to life.
