Rebalance tax deductions

-

It’s tax time and once again we see the unfairness of the system. If you send $400 to a political party, you can take 75 per cent of that amount from your income. If you send $400 to a charity, you only get credit for a tiny fraction of that. What does this add up to? A person is better off financially to give money to a federal party rather than helping the Red Cross, the Cancer Society or a homeless shelter. This is plain wrong and the government should do something about it. I would rather help fight cancer than help fight the next election. Joe Spence, Kanata
