STARS OF STAGE AND CLOSET
When they’re not performing in Kinky Boots, actors model vintage clothes for Etsy shop,
Kinky Boots cast member Erica Peck didn’t have to look far for models for her Etsy clothing shop Wildthing Vintage.
She frequently drafts her co-stars, including A.J. Bridel and Graham Scott Fleming, who play leads Lauren and Charlie in the musical about a man who starts making highheeled boots for drag queens to save his family factory.
An “incredible thing about being in the performing arts industry is that I have a ton of absolutely beautiful friends in all shapes and sizes,” said Peck, 28.
“We try not to chat about the business,” she added with a laugh.
Whether it’s rummaging through the racks of a “mom and pop” thrift store in Stratford to find a “gorgeous Lanvin silk dress” or spotting a Christian Dior maxi skirt from the ’70s in a Toronto shop, Peck does all the work for the site herself, during the day before her shows.
“I tell people I specialize in the ‘Where did you get that?’ ” she said when asked to describe the vibe of the shop.
She finds it the perfect “side passion” as her musical theatre career takes her to many small towns, “great for finding beautiful old things that have been sitting in closets for 20 and 30 years just waiting for me to find them and give them some new life.”
Peck plays factory worker Maggie and understudies the two female leads in Kinky Boots, which runs at the Royal Alexandra Theatre until May 15.
