Search for suspect ends in fatal shooting

Police say the search for the suspect in a fatal shooting on a northern Saskatchewan reserve ended with gunfire and the man’s death.

RCMP told residents of the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation to stay inside their homes on Tuesday after a shooting outside a health centre left a 56-year-old man dead.

Police searched for a man who was spotted leaving the scene on an ATV. Later in the day, they located a 59year-old man who investigators think was the suspect. While police were at the scene, a firearm was discharged, and the man was later pronounced dead in hospital.
