Michi Describes itself as a pioneer of change in women’s sportswear, with styles that include mesh inserts, multi-strap bras and cut-outs. Although it was launched in New York in 2010, founder Michelle Watson brought the brand to Toronto in search of better manufactur­ing. It’s sold online, in specialty stores and at select retailers, including Neiman Marcus and Harrods. Lucas Hugh Founded in 2010 by former swimwear designer Anjhe Mules, this London label describes its products as luxury athletic wear for women who want high-fashion style and technical performanc­e. According to the website, Lucas Hugh garments are tested with sports profession­als to ensure they meet high performanc­e standards. Bandier Launched in 2014 by a former music executive, Bandier sells a selection of athletic brands, including Under Armour and Nike, but also emerging labels such as Heroine Sport by designer Nima Taherzadeh, focused on high-fashion sensibilit­y with a sporty attitude. Outdoor Voices While other luxury brands are focused on high fashion, Outdoor Voices is more low-key, with a stated aim of making quality technical apparel for recreation. “We celebrate approachin­g activity with moderation, humour and delight,” it states on its website. The laid-back brand has offices in New York City and Austin, Texas.
