Samantha Kemp-Jackson Communications business owner
Samantha Kemp-Jackson’s taxes this year are complicated, she says. She started her own communications and public relations business in 2011 after giving birth to twins, and in 2014, she went back to the “corporate world” with a communications gig in health care. But last December, yearning for the freedom of small business, she revived her company, Triple M Communications. “It’s a bit of a nightmare trying to track things,” Kemp-Jackson said, explaining that though she’s started to keep digital copies of invoices, bills and receipts through Freshbook, she has some back taxes from her first years as an entrepreneur, when she wasn’t as organized.
“It actually makes me feel less stressed out, knowing that I have it somewhere, filed; that digitally, I’ll be able to recall it at some point,” Kemp-Jackson said. She got an accountant to help her out with it all and recommends others do the same.
