Ayr teen ready for NASCAR Pinty’s Series spotlight

Adam Martin will take a big step in his racing progressio­n this Saturday when the Ayr, Ont., teenager competes in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series event as part of the Honda Indy Toronto weekend.

Martin will makes his third career Pinty’s Series start Saturday, but the week of activities will test his focus and determinat­ion.

Martin drives the Johnsonvil­le-sponsored No. 9 entry, and on top of competing against some of the best racers in Canada he will be part of Johnsonvil­le’s impressive marketing plans.

“I’m excited to compete on the biggest stage of my career so far,” said Martin. “We will help Johnsonvil­le Sausage promote its brand, and we will be raising funds and awareness for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, so it will be a hectic weekend for sure.”

Johnsonvil­le is bringing the world’s biggest grill to the event, and Martin’s car will be displayed throughout the event. Proceeds from Johnson- ville’s Big Taster Grill will be donated to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

“It’s a privilege to use our race team to support a great cause,” Martin said. “I have a great team, so I know the race car has everything it needs to allow me to compete.

Martin finished fourth in his series debut at Sunset Speedway, and he followed that with a 15th place result on the road course at circuit ICAR.

“We made progress every time on the track at ICAR,” said Martin.

“The road racing talent in this series is huge, so to improve each time out and finish 15th was a real confidence builder.”

Martin and several other drivers have never raced on the Honda Indy course, and it’s NASCAR’s first event as part of the Honda Indy Toronto since 2011. “It will be an exciting weekend for fans and our series.”

Martin is supported by Johnsonvil­le Sausage, Olivier’s Chocolates and Candies, Reser’s Fine Foods, Secure Drive, STIHL Canada, Little Potato Company and Legacy Auto Leasing.
