2016 Honda Indy guide: 12 big races

-

Thirty years ago, in July of 1986, the first Toronto Indy was held. Sponsored by Molson's, it was an unqualified success attendance-wise — and it was a great race, too. Bobby Rahal, who’d won that year’s Indianapolis 500, was penalized for passing the pace car and held in the pits for what seemed like ages. He roared off in pursuit of the pack and not only caught it but passed everybody in it to go on for the win. Will this year's Honda Indy Toronto be as exciting? Most are.

Alcohol and Liquor

No alcoholic beverages may be brought onto the race grounds. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased on-site and are not permitted to leave the designated licensed areas. Any guest purchasing, in possession of, or consuming alcohol must be 19 years of age or older and able to prove their age by showing valid photo identification.

Food and Beverage Service

The Honda Indy Toronto constantly strives to provide a great variety of food and beverage options. Outside food and/or beverages are not allowed with the exception of an empty water bottle. Free fountain water is available on-site within the Enercare Centre, Allstream Centre, and at multiple outdoor refilling stations.

Beer Gardens

There will be a beer garden located near food vendors and interactive exhibits. Vendors selling beer can also roam across the Honda Indy Toronto site, as the grounds are fully licensed for alcohol service.

The Tunnel

Elevators in the main Enercare Centre hallway provide access to a tunnel leading to the inside of the track as an accessible alternative to crossing the Honda Bridge.

Inclement Weather

Typically, events will continue even if rain exists. Check the weather forecast and bring rain gear if it's iffy. The Honda Indy works very hard to maintain the full schedule if racing is at all possible. In certain instances, races may be delayed, and on rare occasion, cancelled. If the event is cancelled, there will be no refund.

Customer Service

A customer service office will be located in the Enercare Centre. The ticket box office will also be located there. Ticket upgrades, ticket issue resolutions and Verizon IndyCar Series Paddock passes can be purchased at this location.

Lost and Found

Lost and Found items are taken to the customer service office, located in Salon 109B in the Enercare Centre during the event weekend. After race weekend, please call 416-588-7223 x215 for information on lost items.

ATMs

ATMs are located in the Enercare Centre.

Emergency Information

First-Aid stations will be set up on-site. If at any time you are in need of emergency assistance, please notify a nearby race track volunteer, roaming EMS personnel, or security. The medical/first aid centre can be found in the Enercare Centre.

Police

A police command post will also be set up on the event grounds.
