They play two of summer’s most anticipated anti-heroes, but Margot Robbie and Will Smith were all charm on the red carpet at an event in the Distillery District on Tuesday.

The co-stars hit Toronto to hype their comic book rogue’s gallery team-up Suicide Squad, which was filmed in the city last year.

“Rolling through The 6 with our woes!” Smith sang, paraphrasing Drake’s Toronto ode “Know Yourself” as he took the stage at the Fermenting Cellar event space alongside Robbie, Toronto Mayor John Tory, director David Ayer and host Ben Mulroney.

The space was transformed into the “Belle Reve Penitentiary Fan Experi- ence,” inspired by the prison where the film’s supervillain squad are imprisoned. Toronto hosted much of the sprawling shoot, which ran from April through August last year.

“I’ve filmed in big cities before,” Robbie said. “And I’ve never had the people living in that city be so nice about it. When you guys see the movie, you’ll see your hometown all the way through it.”

The warm feelings, apparently, are mutual. Tory presented the cast with a plaque and gave Robbie, a New York Rangers fan, a Toronto Maple Leafs cap.

“My second favourite team!” she laughed, noting that she did see a Leafs game while she was in Toronto.

“They were playing the Rangers,” Smith said.

Tory noted that Toronto is the third largest filming location in North America and thanked the team behind the blockbuster-to-be for its contribution to the economy.

The “Belle Reve Penitentiary Fan Experience” will be open to the public from 1 p.m. through 10 p.m. on Thursday.

The space features Deadshot’s jail cell set; the “Harley Quinn Smash Room,” a glass cube where participants smash props such as electronics with a bat; and such anti-hero accessories used in the film as the Joker’s purple cane.

Suicide Squad opens Aug. 5.
