Potter fans are still wild about Harry Five fast facts to get you up to speed on what lies ahead in the wizard world

Potterhead­s — those enrapt and obsessed with all things Harry Potter- related — have been waiting a long time.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the last book in the series, was published in 2007 before being split into two films, Part 1 in 2010 and Part 2 in 2011.

So it’s no surprise that the newest addition to the series is causing a torrent of excitement from diehard fans of the boy wizard with the lightning bolt scar on his forehead.

With Harry Potter and the Cursed Child set to officially open onstage on Saturday and be released in book form on Sunday (the birthday of creator J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter himself ), here are five things to know: 1. Actually it’s a play — divided into two parts — written by Jack Thorne along with John Tiffany, who’s directing the production in London’s West End, with the support, approval and assistance of Rowling herself. 2. The story catches up to life with Harry19 years after the end of Deathly Hallows. Married to sweetheart Ginny Weasley, Harry is now an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic and father of three. The play opens on Platform 9 3⁄ at King’s Cross station as

4 Harry bids farewell to his youngest son, Albus who, like his father, is heading for his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at the age of 11. 3. The book version is amassing impressive preorders from bookstores and online sites on both sides of the Atlantic, matching the same level of popularity of Deathly Hallows. Bookseller­s are confidentl­y predicting it will be the top seller of 2016. 4. The play, which is sold out until May 2017 — with more dates to be added — has been generating huge buzz while in previews, from both theatre critics and audiences.

The casting of Noma Dumezweni, who is black, as Hermione has raised some eyebrows but has the imprimatur of both Rowling and Emma Watson, who played the role in the films. 5. Albus Severus — whose name is derived from two beloved characters, late headmaster Albus Dumbledore and enigmatic potions instructor Severus Snape — will attend Hogwarts with Scorpius Malfoy, whose father Draco was Harry Potter’s main schoolyard adversary.
