Drake’s dream home
Design firm imagines his Bridle Path mansion,
Hold on, we’re going inside Drake’s dream home.
Well, not without a little imagination. But with the 6 God seemingly moving ahead on plans to erect a new palace along the Bridle Path, architectural rendering firm Norm Li has taken a cheeky approach to envisioning Drizzy’s mansion-to-be.
“We’re Drake fans, including our principal, so we thought it would be fun to envision what his dream space is like,” said director of marketing Kimberly Valmeo. “We really just went above and beyond to envision it. For us, we see these renderings and we think: this has to be it! This has to be what it looks like!”
How to add fantasy flair to a mega-mansion that already included a jersey museum, a sprawling lower-level pool and a full-sized basketball court?
Well, you can start with some elegant black-and-gold finishes, playful pop-culture references and many, many owls.
Now, the challenge might be getting Drake to personally view these mockups.
“We’ve tried,” Valmeo sighed. “We’ve even reached out to Ferris Rafauli, the architect in charge of his home and we haven’t been able to get feedback.
“But I really think he would love these renderings if he saw them.” A look at Norm Li’s fantasy views into Drake’s dream home: The office With “Hotline Bling” on above the fireplace, four platinum albums on the wall — what, no love for Take Care? — and golden owls adorning both the lamp and stylish desk, this looks like a perfect perch for some signature Drake brooding (and those pyjamas!). “Even the Bentley is parked on the outside, peeking through the door,” Valmeo pointed out. The bar In this rendering of one of the several bars Drake has planned for his house — this being the one flanked by separate chambers for “chilled wine” and “chilled champagne” — it appears the rapper and Councillor Norm Kelly are having almost too good a time. “We just arrived at Norm Kelly because he is one of the biggest Drake fans,” Valmeo suggested. The exterior For Drake’s sprawling courtyard, Norm Li populated the scene with a battery of luxury cars and a few of the rapper’s closest friends: that’s bodyguard “Chubbs,” production wizard Noah (40) Shebib and manager Oliver El-Khatib. And yes, those are the 6 God praying hands projected onto the front of his house.
The court The real 44-by-94-foot basketball court proposed for Drake’s basement gets the OVO treatment here.
The court features dark hardwood, gold trim and, yes, more owls dressing centre court and the backboard. Drake himself is in his comfort zone stalking the sidelines and he sure seems charged up by LeBron James’s right-handed dunk (and possible offensive foul). “With the marble wall, that is the most luxurious basketball court I’ve ever seen,” Valmeo said. The bathroom So sure, Drake’s bathroom contains many marvels — the “Hotline Bling” phone, marble foot stools and golden-owl throw cushions — but we imagine most are wondering the same thing and yes, that’s meant to be Rihanna having a rinse. “We really took all creative liberty,” Valmeo conceded. Hey, speaking of Views, shouldn’t someone close the blinds?
