A killing spree and flight across the U.S.

1. May 1, 2007: Race spent his first full day at his new apartment on North St. in Halifax. Later that night, or early in the morning on May 2, he killed Paul Knott, his first victim.

May 3: After getting rid of Knott’s car, Race called his father, Mark, from Fall River, N.S., and asked for a ride. He spent most of the next few days in Windsor, N.S.

May 7: Race got a ride back to his downtown Halifax apartment with his father. Later that night, or in the early-morning hours of May 8, he killed Trevor Brewster in Dartmouth, N.S. Then he fled in Brewster’s Honda Civic. 2. May 8: Race stopped at a monastery in Rogersvill­e, N.B. 3. May 9: Race tried to withdraw cash from an ATM in Lachine, Que.

4. May 9 or 10: Race abandoned Brewster’s car on an old logging road in Havelock, Que., and crossed into New York on foot, travelling through the woods.

May 10: Race was spotted walking in the town of Mooers, N.Y. He then broke into a hunting lodge, where he killed Darcy Manor. He fled in Manor’s Ford pickup.

5. May 11: Sometime after 6:30 p.m. Race was in Dalton, Ga., where he stole a licence plate off a parked vehicle and changed plates. May 12: Race switched his plates again in Vinton, La.

6. May 13: He switched plates a third time in Sabine Pass, Texas, and bought fuel.

7. May 14: Race got a flat tire, abandoned the truck in Baytown, Texas and got on a bus.

8. May 15: Race got off the bus in Harlingen, Texas. He went to a Stripes convenienc­e store, called a taxi and asked to be driven to the border. The driver dropped him off in Los Indios, Texas. He was arrested near the border shortly after 9 a.m.
