Senators: MacArthur has another concussion

-

OTTAWA— The Ottawa Senators say Clarke MacArthur has been diagnosed with a concussion.

MacArthur suffered the concussion during a scrimmage at Ottawa’s training camp on Sunday. General manager Pierre Dorion said he will be evaluated daily.

MacArthur, who has battled concussions in the past, took a hit from defenceman Patrick Sieloff at the boards and dropped to the ice.

“We don’t know much, this just happened an hour ago,” Dorion said. “He spent time with our doctors and medical staff and we sent him home and he will be re-evaluated Monday.

“I can’t give you too many answers. We just felt that Clarke is such a good guy, such a big part of our team that I should speak and try to update you as much as we can.”

MacArthur, 31, missed all but four games last season as a result of a concussion and had been looking forward to returning to action this year.

The Lloydminster, Alta., native is the second Ottawa player to be diagnosed with a concussion in as many days. The team disclosed Saturday that forward Mark Stone also has one.
