Law & Order: SVU will air an episode themed on the Republican nominee

- TRAVIS ANDREWS

Ever since Dick Wolf created it in 1990, the Law & Order franchise has mined real-life circumstances for its fictional detective fodder.

In fact, as Business Insider, a financial website, noted, the second episode of the original series was based on Bernhard Goetz, better known as “The Subway Vigilante,” who became famous for shooting four alleged muggers on the New York City subway in 1984. Eliot Spitzer, Casey Anthony, Bob Oliva and Ernest Lorch have all been fictionalized on one of the various Law & Order series.

Now, Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president, will join those hallowed ranks.

Law & Order: SVU, the spinoff series that focuses on crimes of a sexual nature, will feature a Trump-themed episode entitled, appropriately, “Unstoppable,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

It will feature actor Gary Cole as a politician “whose campaign goes haywire when several women go public with damaging accusations.”

The episode will air Oct. 26, less than two weeks before Election Day.
