Amazing Race Canada is renewed

The Amazing Race Canada has been renewed for a fifth season.

And CTV says it will “celebrate and showcase the country like never before” in honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017.

The reality series, a Canadian version of the U.S. show, has been a big ratings-getter for CTV, averaging 1.9 million viewers an episode in Season 4.

CTV is already casting for the upcoming season. Instructions on how to submit audition videos can be found at CTV.ca/TheAmazingRaceCanada or on the CTV Facebook page. The deadline for submissions is Dec. 1 at 11:59 p.m.

The series has teams of contestants race around Canada and other countries performing challenges for a chance at $250,000 in cash and other prizes. In the most recent season, spouses Steph Leclair and Kristen McKenzie of Toronto became the first female team to win The Amazing Race Canada. Debra Yeo
