Make any room into a great party

Tiffany Pratt shares how to make ‘Garland Land’

-

If a space has an obscene number of garlands in it, I have probably just left the building after installing them, or I will be going there to marvel at the wonder and take pictures. Garlands are the easiest and most transformative way to add that “IT’S A PARTI!” signal to a room. When I hang a garland, I want it to be interesting and cozy. But it can take a lot of time to make garlands, which is a huge drag. This is why I have the ultimate concept that anyone can do. It will set your former childhood sticker obsession aglow and you’ll get yards and yards of garlands in no time. The beginning You’re at an office supply store buying ink cartridges for your printer and you happen to see a bargain bin filled with circular stickers in assort- ed neon colors.

Scoop up as many as you can and store them in your craft cupboard for a rainy day.

The next time your family BBQ is canceled due to rain and there’s a Meg Ryan rom-com marathon running, pull out your stickers, scissors, and string and start assembling your Garland Land. The middle Tape one end of the string to the side of a table. Unravel some length of string across the width of the table and then tape that end down too. Having the string taped to the table will make it easier to place one sticker behind the string and one on top of it without making a mess.

Seal the stickers to each other with the string trapped in the middle, at whatever distance apart you would like. You can place the string anywhere inside the circle for a varied pattern within the garland.

You can also fold one sticker in half and seal it to itself. Or even cut shapes out from the stickers, so you vary up the look!

If you’re crying while you watch When Harry Met Sally and you mess up your sticker spacing, it’s okay — this garland need not be perfect. The end You have used up your stickers, so stash your garland in your craft cupboard.

You are ready for any occasion or special event, so when the moment strikes, you’ll be ready to cover your space with circular Garland Land dreams.
