Police ex-employee facing charges
A former Toronto police civilian employee is facing two charges after an investigation turned up data files that were allegedly illicitly accessed.
Toronto Police Services have charged the former employee with conducting unauthorized searches in police databases between April and July of this year.
Toronto’s Davita Federico, 30, was charged with breach of trust and unauthorized use of a computer. Under Canadian law, a person found guilty with criminal breach of trust may face a sentence of up to 14 years in prison.
Federico worked at TPS for almost seven years according to a statement. Her last job was in Records Management Services. Another TPS employee, 28-year-old Erin Maranan, was charged earlier this year with 22 counts of breach of trust, one charge of perjury and one charge of personation.
