Key players: Drew Doughty, Kings, and Mitch Marner, Leafs. The Leafs’ young forward has been the team’s leading offensive threat lately, with three goals and an assist in the last two games, and he and linemates Tyler Bozak and James van Riemsdyk should see plenty of time against the Kings’ top defensive pairings. That means a lot of Doughty, the defending Norris Trophy winner.

Need to know: The Kings recently signed veteran Anders Lindback to a professional tryout and sent him to the minors as they deal with a rough injury spell with their goalies. All-star starter Jonathan Quick is out about three months with a groin injury and backup Jeff Zatkoff was sidelined two weeks, also with groin problems, before being activated Monday. Interim starter Peter Budaj blanked the Flames 5-0 on Saturday for his first shutout in more than three years . . . The win over Calgary was the Kings’ first in regulation this season . . . Los Angeles was 27th in goals per game (2.3) through Sunday. The Kings were shut out three straight games at the end of October.

Up next: Friday vs. Philadelphia Mark Zwolinski
