Air Canada: The country’s biggest carrier flies within Canada, United States and overseas to all six continents. It also operates a leisure carrier Rouge that flies to sun destinations and vacation spots. WestJet Airlines: Started as a low-cost carrier in Alberta, expanded across Canada to include regional carrier WestJet Encore. It also flies wide-body jets to Europe. Porter Airlines: Based at Toronto’s Billy Bishop airport, flying Q400 turboprops across eastern Canada and into the States. Air Transat: Specializes in vacation travel to dozens of cities in Europe as well as to Mexico and the Ca- ribbean. Sunwing: Offers air and hotel packages to sun destinations in the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean. NewLeaf Travel: Launched in July, this company, which contracts out the flying, boasts of low-cost fares from select domestic airports. Canada Jetlines: Company hopes to launch an ultra low-cost airline by next summer, with hubs in Hamilton and Vancouver. It plans to fly domestic routes as well as to U.S. and sun destinations. FlyToo: Enerjet plans to bring cheap fares to Canadians, saying its motto is about ensuring everyone can afford to fly.
