Love match: Pats fan hopes for second set with Bouchard after ‘best date ever’

- LAURA ARMSTRONG SPORTS REPORTER

It might be love at first bet for Eugenie Bouchard.

The Montreal tennis star and University of Missouri marketing student John Goehrke — who won a Super Bowl wager with Bouchard via Twitter — had such a good time during a rendezvous at the Brooklyn Nets’ game on Wednesday night that another date seems to be in the cards.

“For sure,” Bouchard said as she left New York’s Barclays Center, when asked by a TMZ reporter if they would be getting together again.

The Canadian said she considered herself lucky that Goehrke — a total stranger until the social media connection — turned out to be a nice, normal guy, while the Chicago native praised Bouchard for going ahead with the date despite the bizarre circumstances.

“The most amazing part is that she agreed to it without knowing who I was,” he said.

Asked about Bouchard’s comment about a possible second date, Goehrke told the Chicago Tribune: “Hopefully she was telling the truth.”

Bouchard made headlines when she agreed to what she thought was a safe bet with Goehrke on Twitter: that the Atlanta Falcons would beat the New England Patriots in the Feb. 5 Super Bowl in Houston after jumping out to a 28-3 lead. But Tom Brady went on to orchestrate a historic comeback and the Pats won 34-28.

Bouchard said she’d pay up, but that Goehrke, a Patriots fan, would have to plan the date. Instead, he said she beat him to it with the NBA idea.

Goehrke picked her up at her hotel, and didn’t show up empty-handed. Bouchard documented much of the night on Snapchat and posted a video Thursday that shows her opening a gift: a pair of earrings from Tiffany’s.

“A girl always loves a pair of Tiffany’s earrings,” she said in the video. “Thank you, John.”

Goehrke’s final word on the encounter: “Best date ever.”
