Shaw Fest to mount Christmas show

-

The Shaw Festival is getting into the holiday theatre market.

The Niagara-on-the-Lake festival’s season normally runs from April to October. But beginning Nov. 15, the Shaw will present a version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol under the guidance of its new artistic director, Tim Carroll.

Carroll’s version of the play about a misanthrope who is visited by spirits on Christmas Eve will include “whimsical puppetry and some exciting stage magic,” the news release said, which makes it a safe bet for family entertainment.

It will run through Dec. 23 at the Royal George Theatre. Go to shawfest.com for information. Debra Yeo
