Was that Turk in the trench?

Re All the Canadian pictures fit to print, April 11 What an extraordinary discovery of 25,000 Canadian photographs in the archives of the New York Times. That they are now returned to Canada is particularly good news for history buffs and older Canadians such as myself. The Star would perform a real public service by seeking permission from Ryerson to publish more of these photos on an ongoing basis. The photo published features members of the Maple Leafs in a1939 wartime trench for promotional purposes. Am I mistaken or is the second “soldier” in line none other than Turk Broda, one of Toronto’s finest goalies? Al Truscott, Collingwood
