Woman dies after being hit by truck

A 54-year-old woman was killed Tuesday morning after she was hit by a truck in the Downsview area.

The incident happened a few minutes before-11a.m., at Wilson Ave. and Dufferin St.

Police officers, not paramedics, pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene — something that only happens in the most severe circumstances, Const. David Hopkinson said. The victim was not in her 20s, as was originally reported to police.

The intersection was closed until 3 p.m. to allow for a police investigation.
