Alonso will race in Indianapolis 500

Two-time Formula One champion Fernando Alonso announced Wednesday that he will race for McLaren at the Indianapolis 500 next month in a surprise switch that means the Spanish driver miss the Monaco Grand Prix, which is held on the same day. It will be the 35-yearold’s first time in the showcase race as he steps up his bid to win the so-called “Triple Crown” of motor sport: the Monaco GP, the Indianapolis 500 and the Le Mans 24 Hours race.
