Alonso will race in In­di­anapo­lis 500

Two-time For­mula One cham­pion Fer­nando Alonso an­nounced Wed­nes­day that he will race for McLaren at the In­di­anapo­lis 500 next month in a sur­prise switch that means the Span­ish driver miss the Monaco Grand Prix, which is held on the same day. It will be the 35-yearold’s first time in the show­case race as he steps up his bid to win the so-called “Triple Crown” of mo­tor sport: the Monaco GP, the In­di­anapo­lis 500 and the Le Mans 24 Hours race.
