Happ vs. Davis
The Jays’ J.A. Happ finally grew into the dominant starting pitcher teams believed he could last season. In addition to posting career-best marks in wins (20), innings (195.0) and WHIP (1.169), Happ received Cy Young votes for the first time. His trademark control remains intact — he still hasn’t walked a batter in two starts this year — but he has already given up four home runs, placing him well ahead of last year’s pace. It also puts him in a dangerous spot when facing hitters like Baltimore’s Chris Davis, one of the key run producers in a home-run hitting lineup. Davis homered just once in Baltimore’s first six games but has 36 career homers against the Jays, the most he has against any team.
