“The biggest thing for me was the joy I experienced just having the space to experiment. The mixed-media approach just allowed you to pursue curiosity and impulse; we could do whatever we were drawn towards. It’s a lot of time and money to invest and honestly I don’t want to be in an environment where I’m going to be at a disadvantage due to sexism either at the front of the room or from other classmates, so it was great to be able to be in a neutral learning environment for women. We’re learning about female artists equally, our work was valued equally and we weren’t made to feel silly or inadequate because of our gender or our life experiences.”
