Washington was 16-6-4 in the regular season following a defeat. Holtby went 11-4-3 with one shutout, a 2.09 GAA and .927 save percentage. ... Washington led 112-96 in shot attempts in all situations in Game 2, 91-76 at five-onfive. THE LEAFS Defenceman Jake Gardiner logged 40:34 of ice time in the Leafs’ double-overtime win in Game 2, the most of any player in this post-season. . . . Gardiner has seven points (two goals, five assists) in eight career playoff games. . . . Kasperi Kapanen was the first Leaf to score in overtime since Travis Green — also in double OT, in Game 6 of the 2003 conference quarter-finals vs. the Flyers. . . .
